Lower Elementary Program

Video on the benefits of Montessori curriculum at the Elementary Level:

The Lower Elementary (1st-3rd Grade) program prepares children to be independent, competent and responsible caring citizens and life long learners. Through the Elementary years, children expand their abstract concept and problem solving skills with the help of concrete Montessori materials. The Elementary curriculum is exciting and offers a research based style of learning. Children work individually or in small groups on a variety of projects which spark the imagination and engage the intellect.

Sugar Creek Montessori school realizes that many of its Elementary students go on to public or private traditional schools. Some parents inquire about the transition process from a Montessori to Traditional environment. Sugar Creek Montessori is especially pleased to be one of a select group of Montessori schools in the Houston area that seeks to “bridge” the gap between Montessori and Traditional instruction at the Elementary level. Although this program is led by an experienced, American Montessori Society (AMS) Elementary level certified teacher, the curriculum was developed after referencing the curriculum of area traditional schools, in order to ensure that Sugar Creek students are well prepared if they go on to a traditional school.

Children experience a range of curricular subjects which include Language Arts, Math, Geometry, Geography, Biology, Social Studies, Arts & Crafts, Music, Physical Education, Spanish, and Computers.
